Breast Augmentation

Description: A surgical procedure to insert implants (silicone or saline) into a space created under the breast tissue or the muscle of the chest wall to enhance the size, appearance, and shape of the breasts. This procedure may be combined with a breast lift.

Anesthesia: Procedure may be performed under general anesthesia or a local with sedation depending on patient preference.

Surgery & Recovery: Length of surgery will range from one to two hours. Patient will return to work within three to seven days depending on the level of surgery.

Results: Outcome will last for years although results may vary as patient ages. Implant replacement is not uncommon several years later depending on patient.

Complications & Risks: Possible capsular contracture, irregular scar formation, infection, deflation of implant, bleeding or blood clots, asymmetry, and changes in nipple/breast sensation, complications with anesthesia.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

Description: Surgical procedure designed to reshape and lift sagging or non-symmetrical breasts.

Anesthesia: Procedure may be accomplished under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation.

Surgery & Recovery: Surgery will take approximately two hours. Return to work within four to seven days.

Results: Outcome is enduring with consideration of changes with aging, weight loss/gain, and pregnancy.

Complications & Risks: Possible irregular scar formation, asymmetrical breasts/nipples, changes in nipple sensation and complications from general anesthesia.

Breast Reduction

Description: A surgical procedure to remove breast tissue and skin often combined with liposuction to remove fat resulting in a reduction in the breast size to desired size and shape.

Anesthesia: Procedure may be performed under general anesthesia.

Surgery & Recovery: Length of surgery will range from two to four hours. Patient will return to work within one to four weeks depending on the level of surgery.

Results: Outcome is permanent, but results may be compromised with weight fluxuation and changes in the breast with age.

Complications & Risks: Possible loss of ability to breastfeed. Possible irregular scar formation, infection, changes in nipple/breast sensation, bleeding or blood clots, asymmetry, and complications with anesthesia.

Male Breast Reduction (Gynecomastia)

Description: A surgical procedure to remove breast tissue and skin often combined with liposuction to remove fat resulting in a reduction in the breast size to desired size and shape resulting in a contoured chest that is flatter and firmer.

Anesthesia:Procedure may be performed under general anesthesia.

Surgery & Recovery: Recovery times for male breast reduction surgery may differ from patient to patient, but most recipients are back to their normal routine in less than two weeks.

Results: Outcome is permanent, but results may be compromised with weight fluxuation and changes in the breast with age.

Complications & Risks: Possible irregular scar formation, infection, changes in nipple/breast sensation, bleeding or blood clots, asymmetry, and complications with anesthesia.
